Introduction

COMTECH – the academic club representing undergraduate students at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics (FSKM) in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). Comprising students from three distinct programs – Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) with Honours, Bachelor of Computer Science with Maritime Informatics (Honours), and Bachelor of Computer Science (Mobile Computing) with Honours.

History

The history of the academic club, COMTECH, traces back to the 1990s when Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) was known as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia Terengganu (UPMT). Established during this period, COMTECH initially comprised of undergraduate students from the computer science program who were known for their skills, talent, ambition, and drive. Over the years, COMTECH has evolved into a prominent platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange among aspiring technologists. With a strong emphasis on fostering academic excellence, professional development, and community engagement, COMTECH endeavors to empower its members to excel in the dynamic field of computer science while making meaningful contributions to society. Throughout its journey, COMTECH has been led by dedicated coordinators, including Dr. Noor Azliza binti Che Mat, followed by Associate Professor Dr. Engku Fadzli Hassan bin Syed Abdullah, and currently overseen by Dr. Najihah binti Ibrahim.

Objective

The COMTECH club aims to achieve the vision and mission, which is “Empowering Future Tech Leaders” by “Empowering a highly skilled, competitive, and ethical generation to strengthen the community.” Each program conducted by this club not only aims to enhance the reputation of the club, faculty, and university, but also aspires to cultivate respectful and highly skilled technology leaders

Introduction

It is an association of undergraduate students in mathematics under the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics.The club’s membership is only open to UMT undergraduate math students from courses : Bachelor of Science (Financial Mathematics), Bachelor of Science (Applied Mathematics) and Bachelor of Science (Data Analytics).

History

Established in 1996, HIMMAT – Himpunan Mahasiswa Matematik has stood as a landmark of excellence and mathematical warmth for an impressive 27 years. While the specificity of our early years has faded into the history of time, our enduring legacy speaks volumes about our commitment to fostering a vibrant community of mathematicians. Over the years, HIMMAT has become synonymous with academic rigor, innovative thinking, and the spirit of cooperation. Through various workshops, seminars and events, we have worked to eliminate the complexity of mathematics, making it accessible and attractive for all. Our commitment to learning has not only enriched the academic journey of our members but has also paved the way for a wide range of academic achievements and awards. HIMMAT’s journey has been marked by a number of milestones. From organising the inaugural math quiz competition on campus to the famous guest speakers who have brightened our understanding of the mathematical universe, every achievement has been a testament to our unwavering dedication.

Objective

The HIMMAT Club was established for the purpose of:

  • Cultivate Collaboration: Break the boundaries between different math courses and promote collaboration among students.
  • Improve Soft Skills: Through a variety of activities, we help students polish important skills such as communication, leadership and self-confidence, essential for their future endeavors.
  • Expand Knowledge: HIMMAT serves as a bridge between classroom learning and real-world applications, allowing members to deepen the subject of their interest.
  • Empowering Leadership: We provide opportunities for students to lead, organize challenging and inspiring events and programs.

 

 

Introduction

PRISMA is an association of graduate students under the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics. Membership in this club is open only to UMT graduate students from the following courses: Master of Computer Science, Master of Information Technology, Bachelor of Mathematics, Bachelor of Statistics in Marine Science, and Bachelor of Science.

History

The PRISMA Club was established during the PPIMG. The club was founded on the basis of providing an arena for postgraduate students to engage in formal activities. Financial management can also be conducted regularly, where funds for all PRISMA club activities are managed by the FSKM Student Activities Trust Fund and will be used by all clubs under the auspices of FSKM such as the Computer Technology Club (COMTECH), the Mathematics Student Association (HIMMAT).

Objective

  • Taking care of the welfare of PRISMA club members (accidents, disasters) and providing community service (financial aid, teachings, other assistance) to the Terengganu community.
  • Providing leadership exposure and organizational management among students.
  • Fostering close ties between students and FSKM lecturers and producing excellent Mathematics graduates (responsible, knowledgeable, confident, and skilled).
