PPKK students won 1 gold, 2 bronze at I-RIA 2019

Congratulations to 3 winners of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Maritime Technology), School of Ocean Engineering in conjunction with the participation in Innovative Research, Invention and Application (IRI-A) Exhibition held from 29 to 30 April 2019 at Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kedah.

The theme ‘Nurturing Creativity, Humanizing Technology’, I-RIA 2019 is the best medium for creators, designers and entrepreneurs from amongst primary, secondary and university students to promote creative inventions, ideas, prototypes, products, and designs to investors, distributors and industry partners. This relationship helps both parties to work together especially in technology commercialization activities both nationally and internationally.

The participation of I-RIA 2019 this time results when a group of 3 year students from the Maritime Technology program won 1 gold and 2 bronze. The ‘An Innovative Design of A Floating Jetty Through Reducing Intact Water-Plane Area’ project has earned a gold award. Two more projects have been awarded a bronze medal, namely ‘Innovative Design of Trim Tabs to Enhance seakeeping performance of a high-speed craft’ and ‘Design of A Hydrofoil towards Better Seakeeping Performances’.

PPKK targets more participation in the future to give more opportunities to students in promoting talent in the aspect of innovation and creation.
